Gaudi Rules

You can't come to Barcelona without paying tribute to the genius of Antonio Gaudi. His unique handiwork can be found throughout the city. He was born in 1852 and was a sickly child who spent a lot of time outdoors where his appreciation of nature shaped his artistic views. He spent his life studying natural forms and all his structures represent different geometric forms he found in the world around him. He tried to create a forest inside his Sagrada Familia and used the design of honeycombs in the windows. He also loved putting many different animals, foods, and plants into his designs. When he died in 1926, he left behind many completed masterpieces as well as one that still hasn't been finished, the stunning Sagrada Familia. He was deeply religious and wasn't concerned that his magnus opus wouldn't be finished within his lifetime since it was God's creation, not his. Other Gaudi highlights are Casa Mila, Park Guell, Palau Guell, and Casa Battlo. He was considered many things from a fool to a genius. After seeing his incredible work in person, his genius is obvious.
