Here are some of the strange but wonderful things we saw in Spain (and Portugal). Bullfighters never retire, they just stand on street corners and pass the hat. Honest advertising is rare to find these days. There is no end to the weird things that 'buskers-beggars' won't try. Why a penguin is selling cervezas is anybody's guess. These cute little cars must be fun to zip around in but I'm sure they also fit nicely under another vehicle. I wonder what a few of my favourite Spanish things would be? Any country where beer is cheaper than ice tea has got to be civilized. This pew carving seems to sum up the mood of many a churchgoer. As long as the pills and fish are happy, what do we have to worry about. If you are headed west from Portugal, it would be a good idea to stop here for sustenance. We were wondering what 'gins' were (there are many signs out here that could have used a little English editing). And now the real reason Winnipeggers are pumped about IKEA coming to town - IKEA beer (goes well with little meatballs and lingonberry sauce). The 60s will never die (as long as the vehicles hold out). Halloween is actually on All Saints Day in Spain. Not all signs have to be serious. This is how Shel Silverstein got started. And finally, giant animal sculptures are everywhere (makes you feel like you are in southern Manitoba home to the Glenboro Camel and a dozen other oversize sculptures).
