That's Amore!

Venice has been called many things from 'a puddle of elegant decay' to 'a sinking Disneyland'. We found it enchanting and mesmerizing (we also arrived two days after the latest flood so we had a dry Venetian experience). This is a city that has to be walked so you can get lost in the maze of narrow streets (or alleys). We took vaporetos along the canals which showed a whole different side of the city. From St. Mark's Square to the Doge's Palace to the Rialto Bridge, around every corner was another picture. One of the most enjoyable things we did was wander through Venice at night and try not to get lost. Thank goodness for GPS. It may no longer be the most romantic city but it is hard not to fall in love with Venice.

We also took a trip to the island of Murano where the glass blowing factories are located. It was fascinating watching the glass blowers work their craft. There are about a hundred other islands but we didn't manage to get to them all (I guess that means we have to come back).
