To really see Berlin, you have to spend more than three days in the city. We knew we were only getting a glimpse into what makes this great city tick but at least we had that. On our last day we visited the famous Berlin Zoo which is almost two hundred years old. It is as much a park or garden as it is a zoo. Again two to three hours turned into seven because there were so many amazing animals (plus we have all been learning to saunter instead of walk on this trip which is actually more tiring). Afterward Matthew and I had to take our picture at the Zoo Station made famous by U2 on the Achtung Baby album. We ended our time in Berlin with a visit to the East Side Gallery of the Wall where we had fun picking our favourite murals and posing with them. Some of them were quite disturbing but most of them were very uplifting. This city is a city of extremes and our time here seemed to capture a lot of that. We won't soon forget it.
